Arizona Western College's interim President Dr. Glenn Mayle was named Acting President by the District Governing Board for the 2010-2011 school year. This is an increase in duration of the anticipated service.
Dr. Mayle is a former AWC employee who served the district for 13 years in three positions. Originally serving as an instructor (1971-1975), Dr. Mayle also served as the Assistant Dean of Instruction (1975-1977) and finally as Dean of Instruction (1977-1984). After leaving AWC, Mayle continued his career as a community college president for 25 years, including Treasure Valley Community College, in Ontario, Oregon; Gavilan College, Gilroy, California; and Northeastern A&M in Miami, Oklahoma. He retired to Prescott Valley in 2009.
Dr. Mayle began serving as Interim President for AWC in late May of this year; his new contract is through the end of the next fiscal year, June 30, 2011.
The District Governing Board also announced that it will resume the Presidential Search in the Spring 2011.
